He obtained the “Maturità Classica” diploma in Genoa, graduated in jurisprudence with full notes at the University of Genoa in 1972 with a thesis on maritime domain concessions, obtained the advocate license in 1975, and is registered in the special registry of advocates authorized to plead in the Supreme Court and other superior courts. Commenced to attend the lawfirm during University and spent significant periods in London and Cambridge prior to starting his professional career. He acts as arbitrator in maritime disputes. He is titulary member of the CMI-Comité Maritime International and a member of the Italian Association of Maritime Law, of the Drafting Committee of the journal “Il Diritto Marittimo” and of the Genoa branch of the ATENA (Associazione Italiana di Tecnica Navale).
Areas of principal interest: construction, repair and conversion of ships and pleasure craft, purchase and sale of ships, charterparties, agency forwarding and ships agent, management of port operations, international trade with special experience in the sector of oil, marine pollution, marine insurance, collision and salvage.
He practises skiing and sailing, is a member of the Italian Yacht Club and has been a member of the Legal Committee of FIV (Italian Sailing Federation) and for a long time a member of its disciplinary committee.
